There's also a newish version of APE with more things in, available at APE-xp. This is from a German site but this version is (mostly) English. I use it pretty much all the time now and have found it to be very stable. The only thing I use the old versions of APE like 1.1 for is very large objects which APE 2.5 and APE xp tend to crash more easily with.
